Foxconn to Hire 1,500 Assemblers Over Next Five Years

SUNLAND PARK, TX-Electronics manufacturing services provider Foxconn plans to have 7,500 people working by the fall at its assembly plant in San Jeronimo, Chihuahua, Mexico, across the border from Santa Teresa, TX. During the next five years, the Taiwanese company, expects to have 10,000 employees assembling electronics. MORE

BMW Adds Two Turbines to Methane Project

SPARTANBURG, SC-Automaker BMW is updating its system for reclaiming methane gas from a nearby landfill to produce energy for its manufacturing plant here. BMW officials said they are replacing four turbines at the Spartanburg facility with two larger, more efficient ones. The move will save the manufacturer up to $2 million annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 92,000 tons a year. MORE
