VANCE, AL—Workers at two Mercedes-Benz factories in central Alabama voted against allowing the United Auto Workers to represent them, a blow to the union’s campaign to gain ground in the South, where it has traditionally been weak.

VANCE, AL—Workers at the Mercedes-Benz assembly plant here began voting Monday on whether to join the United Auto Workers union, a significant test of whether the labor group can maintain momentum in the historically anti-union South.

KANSAS CITY, KS—Window and door manufacturer Marvin will build a new $76.5 million assembly plant here, bringing 600 jobs to the area.

HICKORY, NC—Zimmer Group, will showcase ZiMo, a flexible robotic cell and new magnetic grippers for cylindrical battery cells at Automate. In partnership with ABB and FANUC, Zimmer Group will also offer gripper demonstrations on their collaborative robots.

SPRING HILL, TN—LG Energy Solution has delivered the first battery cells produced at the Ultium Cells’ assembly plant here. The cells will be used in General Motors’ third-generation electric vehicles, including the Cadillac Lyriq.
