MUNICH—BMW AG recently produced its 2 millionth electric vehicle at its assembly plant in Dingolfing, Germany, which is the automaker’s largest facility in Europe. The i5 M60 xDrive sedan was shipped to a customer in Spain.
The 53-year-old Dingolfing factory began producing EVs in 2021 and has produced more than 320,000 all-electric models. Today, it builds the widest range of battery-powered models within the BMW Group, including iX, i5 and i7 sedans.
BMW produces at least one EV at each of its factories in Germany. All the flexible facilities are designed to mass-produce vehicles with different power train configurations on a single assembly line.
According to BMW, it “is making a significant contribution to Germany being the world’s second-largest production location for electric cars today.”
