Mitsubishi Electric Creates U.S. Hub for AI, Manufacturing Innovation

BOSTON — Manufacturing companies are increasingly developing software, data and AI platforms alongside traditional products as manufacturers look to connect production systems, workforce knowledge and operational data. Now Mitsubishi Electric has created a dedicated space just for that sort of innovation.
Mitsubishi Electric recently opened Serendie Street Boston, a digital transformation hub designed to connect researchers, startups, customers and industry partners around the development of new applications in manufacturing, energy, infrastructure and AI.
Mitsubishi Electric said the facility is intended to accelerate development of new digital technologies through rapid prototyping, real-world testing and collaboration with startups, researchers and industry partners. Initial efforts are focused on areas such as energy efficiency, building systems optimization and AI-enabled infrastructure, with an emphasis on shortening the path from experimentation to deployment.
The company described the initiative as part of its broader strategy to create new products and services that combine physical equipment, operational data and digital intelligence.
The facility reflects a broader trend across manufacturing as industrial companies expand beyond hardware and equipment sales into software, operational intelligence and AI-driven services. Recent examples include new AI-enabled software platforms such as Desoutter's connected manufacturing Ecosystem and Rhino Tool House's RhiKnows, both of which are designed to help manufacturers connect fragmented production data and improve operational decision-making.
