TOKYO—Mitsubishi Electric Corp. says it has acquired 42,000 square meters of land in Owariasahi City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, where
it will build a new plant to manufacture factory automation control system products starting in April 2025.
TOKYO—Mitsubishi Motors Corp. will shut its only North American assembly plant, in Normal, IL, by November if it can’t find a buyer for the factory, and will soon start shipping tooling back to Japan.
MEMPHIS, TN—Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc. has opened a new, $200 million assembly plant here. The facility currently employs 65 people and is expected to employ 275 at full production.
TOKYO—Mitsubishi Motors has reported overheating problems with lithium-ion batteries made by the same company that supplied the malfunctioning batteries for Boeing’s Dreamliner.
FRANKLIN, IN—Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is planning to start commercial production of automotive turbochargers at its assembly plant here in 2014. Mitsubishi will install three automated assembly lines to produce the turbochargers.
