Ford Focus to Feature Parts Made From Recycled Plastic Bottles
DEARBORN, MI—The seats in the new electric Ford Focus will be made from Repreve, a blend of postindustrial fiber waste and postconsumer waste, such as the plastic water bottles made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Each vehicle will have the equivalent of 22 plastic bottles in its interior, and the strategy is expected to divert 2 million postconsumer plastic bottles from landfills.
