MiQ Partners Expands Operations to Meet West Coast Market Growth

MiQ 10-20
October 20, 2021

CARLSBAD, CA—Machine Builder and integrator MiQ Partners is expanding its production space here by 17,000 square feet to meet the increasing automation needs of west coast manufacturers in many industries. The new building is adjacent to MiQ’s current facility and brings the total operating space close to 37,000 square feet.

Together with its facility in West Chester, OH, MiQ Partners has nearly 150,000 square feet in total operating space. MiQ has earned ISO 13485:2016, 9001:2015, AS9100D and other quality assurance certifications. It has more than 65 years of experience in automation, and employs more than 100 people.

MiQ Partners has extensive expertise at developing custom automation solutions for manufacturing life sciences, aerospace, consumer-packaged goods and industrial products. The new California office is elevating its focus on life sciences automation due to the rapid growth in this sector in SoCal while continuing to expand services to clients in other sectors as well. With this expansion, MiQ Partners has already added personnel to support account management, production processes and operations. Executive positions of CEO and CFO, and the lead HR staff member will maintain offices in Carlsbad.

According to Biocom California, the leading advocate for California’s life sciences sector, the industry represented 1.37 million jobs and $405 billion in total business sales in 2020 throughout all of California, and charted a positive growth rate while many industries contracted. Biocom executive, Rick Fultz, says that MiQ Partners is a strong contributor to this growth.

“MiQ has been a strong player in the California market for years and this expansion enables us to grow our ability to serve the growing number of companies in life sciences and medical devices while still serving companies across other industries without compromise,” says Olaf Tessarzyk, CEO of MiQ Partners since October 2020. “Our diverse teams in California and Ohio have years of success helping companies in all industries solve complex automation challenges and achieve aggressive production goals so this is a natural extension of our company’s offerings.”

MiQ’s core expertise is designing, engineering and building custom automation and standard automation systems that enable clients to produce more products with greater speed, efficiency and accuracy than traditional processes. Systems include robotics, machine vision, remote access and other features. MiQ began operations in Carlsbad, CA under the name of R&3D, focusing on custom automation for life sciences companies in 2017.

The company’s success caught the attention of TSS Technologies in West Chester, OH, and in 2018, the two companies merged. In 2019, the company was redefined as MiQ Partners to reflect the unique manufacturing intelligence applied to all projects.

Current projects include a wide range of life science products such as diagnostic testing kits, wearables, packaging, syringe preparation; high-end consumer goods; and industrial products for agriculture, energy, and other companies. Company engineers, expert advisors, and manufacturing technicians use best-in-class technology for automation, robotics, machine vision, precision part handling, assembly, testing, inspection and more.
