PAPENBURG, Germany—A Rimac Nevera recently set a world record on a banked test track here, making it the fastest electric production vehicle in the world. The hypercar reached a top speed of 258 mph, smashing the previous mark set by a Tesla S at the Nurburgring racing circuit.

The Nevera is named after an unexpected Mediterranean summer storm off the coast of Croatia. It features technology designed, developed and produced in-house by engineers at Rimic Automobili, such as four electric motors that produce 1,914-hp.

The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 1.85 seconds. The Nevera is currently being assembled at Rimac’s state-of-the-art factory near Zagreb.
