Billion-Dollar Battery Plant Proposed for Southern Arizona
TUCSON, AZ—American Battery Factory is planning to build a $1.2 billion battery manufacturing plant here.
If the Pima County Board of Supervisors gives the plan the green light, the factory will be built at the Aerospace Research Campus south of the Tucson International Airport.
The plant will eventually employ 1,000 workers. The company says the average salary will be $65,000.
American Battery Factory estimates the economic impact to the area will be $3.1 billion over 10 years.
