GigE Vision Embedded Interface Transmits Video, Data in High-Performance Applications

Pleora GigE vision interface
February 28, 2023

OTTAWA, Canada—Pleora Technologies has introduced a new embedded interface that transmits low latency GigE Vision video and data at 10 gigabytes per second (Gbps) over flexible Ethernet cabling.

The iPORT NTx-Deca embedded interface can be integrated into X-ray flat panel detectors (FPDs) for medical, dental and industrial applications; contact image sensors; and high-performance machine vision cameras.

“We are expanding our portfolio of GigE Vision embedded interfaces to provide imaging device manufacturers with a flexible range of 1 to 10 Gbps technologies that reduce development time and costs while simplifying system integration,” says Jonathan Hou, president of Pleora Technologies. “With our comprehensive embedded interface portfolio, developers can support a range of bandwidth and performance requirements with a common design approach that is scalable across multiple devices and applications.”

GigE Vision 2.0 compliance streamlines interoperability in multi-vendor imaging systems and applications. Engineers can connect a sensor to the interface, and the off-the-shelf device seamlessly handles video and data transport over flexible Copper Cat 6A Ethernet cabling for distances up to 100 meters.

The interface integrates unique Image Management Database features to enhance system reliability. For high-reliability applications, such as medical and dental imaging, engineers can store video frames with associated metadata for patient identification, video replay and traceability. In the event of a power or network failure, image management allows a user to retrieve data to ensure continuous and reliable inspection. The embedded interface supports IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) to synchronize image capture and imaging system elements, with PLC integration to seamlessly connect to and control critical manufacturing or inspection system components.

The iPORT NTx-Deca is supported by Pleora’s eBUS Software Development Ki for image capture, display, and transmission.
