Epson Robots Introduces High-Precision Six-Axis Robot

Epson CB series robot
August 16, 2024

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—Epson Robots has introduced a new series of high-precision six-axis robots.

Epson’s new C-B Series robots are powered by the company’s RC700E controller with integrated SafeSense technology. The series includes the C4B, C4LB, C8LB, C8XLB, and C12XLB. Designed for precision and efficiency, these models cater to a wide range of automation needs.

The robots are equipped with Epson’s Gyroplus vibration-reduction technology for fast speeds, high acceleration, smooth motion control, and fast settling times with no ringing or overshoot.

The C-B Series offers multiple arm configurations with a reach of up to 1,400 millimeters. Repeatability ranges from ±0.02 to ±0.05 millimeter. The robot’s SlimLine design integrates seamlessly into standard, clean room and static-safe environments, supporting payloads of up to 12 kilograms while maintaining a small form factor.

“To meet the most demanding needs of high-tech automation users, we have expanded the innovative features from our top-of-the-line GX-Series SCARA robots to our top-of-the-line C Series six-axis robots,” said Scott Marsic, group product manager at Epson Robots. “The new C-B Series addresses a wide range of automation and workplace safety needs.”

The RC700E controller, featuring SafeSense technology, allows for safe human-robot interaction without a safety fence through safety-rated speed and position monitoring. This advanced functional safety technology enhances productivity by enabling faster machine interactions for daily operations, potentially reducing the need for physical safety barriers and thus lowering the overall footprint and cost of the automation system. Using no-code Epson RC+ Express software, engineers can easily create collaborative industrial applications.

The robots have a compact wrist pitch for accessing to hard-to-reach areas in confined spaces. The robots can be mounted to a tabletop or the ceiling.

Model C4B has a reach of 600 millimeters, while model C4LB has a reach of 900 millimeters. Both can carry a payload of 4 kilograms. Model C8LB has a reach of 900 millimeters, while model C8XLB has a reach of 1,400 millimeters. Both can carry a payload of 8 kilograms. Model C12XLB has a reach of 1,400 millimeters and can carry a payload of 12 kilograms.
