Honda to Shift All Civic Hatchback Hybrid Production to Indiana

GREENSBURG, IN—Honda will stop producing the Civic Hatchback Hybrid at its factories in Japan and consolidate production at its Indiana Auto Plant in Greensburg. Honda builds the semi-electric model in both locations, but Indiana will become the sole producer later this year, according to company spokesperson Eric Mauk.
The Civic Hatchback Hybrid, starting at around $27,000, is a semi-electric version of Honda’s popular Civic lineup and was recently named the 2025 North American Car of the Year.
This move reflects a larger trend among automakers adjusting their global operations to navigate U.S. tariffs and trade uncertainties. Although Honda has not officially commented, earlier reports indicated the company may also move future Civic production from Mexico to Indiana to avoid potential tariff impacts.
