The equipment needed to cut, strip, crimp and assemble wiring is always changing. Here’s a look at some of the latest products.

Eight-Indent Crimp Tool

The MH860 is an adjustable middle-range, eight-indent crimping tool for machined contacts. Qualified to MIL-DTL-22520/7 and AS22520/7 standards, this manual tool accommodates wire sizes from 16 through 28 AWG. Positioners are available to adapt the tool to virtually all applications consistent with the MIL-DTL-22520 family. The tool is available individually or as a kit that includes the tool frame, tool gauge, and all mil-spec positioners.

Machine Stacks Processed Cables

The synchronized WireStacker 3150 is designed for precise axial stacking of cables. Models are available to stack cables with a maximum length of 8.2 feet, 16.4 feet, 24.6 feet, and 32.8 feet.

The built-in, synchronized transport belts stack cables carefully and safely without jams, even for very flexible wires. It processes wires with a diameter of 0.06 to 1 inch. The integrated batch tray allows for freely programmable batch production and enables the operator to perform additional tasks simultaneously with the production process.

The machine is easily controlled by I/O signals and speed information from the interface of an upstream cable processing machine. Apart from transporting the wire, the 45-degree tilted transport belt also ensures optimal guiding and secure ejection.

Machine Automates Labeling, Sleeving Operations

The Optima machine automates a variety of wire preparation processes, including cutting, laser marking, labeling, and installation of heat-shrink sleeving.

The machine is suitable for both low-mix, high-volume production and high-mix, low-volume production.

Traditionally, operations such as labeling and sleeving have been performed manually. The Optima automates these processes, ensuring greater consistency and quality. The machine can also integrate a laser wire marking module that provides safe, permanent, high contrast identification marks on all “UV-markable” cables, such as single or multi-wire twisted and jacketed cables.

The modular machine has been divided into essential functions that can be added over time, allowing the machine to align with a manufacturer’s technical needs and investment capacities.

The machine can process wires ranging from 0.8 to 8 millimeters in diameter.

Automatic Cutting, Stripping and Crimping System

The TRD801 automatically cuts, strips and terminates wires. The machine can process wires ranging from 16 to 32 AWG. It can produce up to 5,000 pieces per hour.

Cutting length can be set from 35 to 20,000 millimeters. Stripping length can be set from 2 to 16 millimeters.

An icon-based screen enables users to operate the device intuitively, regardless of their level of proficiency. In addition, the machine is equipped with a high-precision terminal crimping monitor, digital crimper, seal insertion unit, and remote monitoring system to improve quality and yield rate.

Model 2275 cable tie cutter by Xuron Corp.

Cable Tie Cutter Leaves Smooth Flat Cut

The Model 2275 cable tie cutter features a bypass cutting action that leaves a flat cut that is smooth to the touch and prevents workers from getting scratched or cut. Unlike compression-type cutters that pinch the cable ties and produce spikes and jagged ends, these ergonomically designed cutters are especially good for applications where the bundles are exposed.

Helping to prevent injuries to installers, the cutter is comfortable to hold in any size hand, left or right. It has no bothersome scissor-like finger loops. Made from alloyed steel, these cutters have Xuro-Rubber soft rubber grips and a built-in return spring.
