MOBILE, AL—Airbus announced that its second A320neo-family production line in Mobile, Alabama, will begin operations in October. The new line brings Airbus’ total number of aircraft assembly lines worldwide to 13.
Robin Hayes, Chief Executive of Airbus North America, confirmed the timeline, noting that tooling certification is underway and aircraft sections are already staged in the facility. The additional line builds on Airbus’ decade-long presence in Mobile, which currently includes an A320neo line and an A220 line opened in 2020.
The Mobile site strengthens Airbus’ position in the U.S. market and supports its long-term production goals. Airbus plans to ramp up A320neo-family output to 75 aircraft per month by 2027 and A220 output to 14 per month by 2026.
So far in 2025, Airbus has delivered 333 A320neo-family aircraft and 53 A220s. However, the company continues to face supply chain challenges, including shortages of CFM International Leap-1A engines.
