Airbus Inaugurates New A320 Final Assembly Line in Mobile

MOBILE, AL—Airbus officially inaugurated a new A320 Family Final Assembly Line (FAL) at its Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley campus, marking a major expansion of its U.S. manufacturing operations and a defining moment for Alabama’s growing aerospace industry.
The expansion doubles Airbus’ A320 production capacity in the U.S., supporting the company’s global goal of building 75 single-aisle aircraft per month by 2027. It adds 1,000 new jobs and includes more than 1 million square feet of additional hangars, paint shops, logistics areas, and a new welcome center.
“This second A320 production line in the U.S. marks another major milestone in our global industrial growth strategy,” said Christian Scherer, CEO of Airbus Commercial Aircraft. “With this launch, Mobile’s production capacity for the A320 Family is effectively doubled.”
Since opening its first A320 FAL in Mobile in 2015, Airbus has delivered 600 aircraft to customers across the Americas and now employs more than 2,000 people at its 2.5 million-square-foot U.S. Manufacturing Facility, which also includes an A220 Final Assembly Line.
