New Adhesive Supports Structural Bonding in Full-Width Automotive Head-Up Displays

SUDBURY, Mass. — Automakers are bringing panoramic head-up displays to mid-range and luxury vehicles, projecting driving information, navigation instructions and infotainment content across the full width of the windshield, and a new adhesive is making production possible.
These advanced displays, dubbed as P-HUD for short, combine materials such as magnesium die cast, plastics, glass and circuit boards, creating a challenge for structural bonding in high-volume production.
To meet the precision, speed and process-control requirements of series assembly, DELO, a leading manufacturer of high-tech adhesives, developed PHOTOBOND SJ4195, a UV-curing structural adhesive engineered specifically for P-HUD components.
The adhesive offers strong adhesion to magnesium die cast, low outgassing and a colorless formulation that preserves optical performance.
Its tailored viscosity allows controlled dispensing at varying layer thicknesses and bridges larger gaps reliably, while curing in just a few seconds to support rapid production cycles.
Compatibility with vision-control systems ensures precise application and consistent quality on high-speed assembly lines.
