GE Aerospace Targets Increased Engine Output With €110 Million European Investment

BRUSSELS — GE Aerospace plans to invest more than €110 million across its European manufacturing sites this year to expand production capacity, scale advanced manufacturing and support engine delivery across commercial and defense programs.
The European investment follows GE Aerospace’s previously announced $1 billion commitment to expand U.S. manufacturing, which will add 5,000 American workers, reflecting a broader strategy to increase production capacity and scale advanced manufacturing capabilities across its global operations.
The investment will support upgrades to engine test cells, advanced machining equipment and additive manufacturing capabilities, along with facility and infrastructure improvements across multiple sites. The company said the effort is aimed at increasing output to meet demand for narrowbody and widebody commercial engines, as well as military aircraft and helicopter platforms.
The largest share of funding will go to Italy, where GE Aerospace is investing €77 million in advanced manufacturing and testing capabilities. Additional investments include €15 million in Poland for grinding, machining and inspection systems, €8 million in the Czech Republic for precision machining and assembly tooling, €10 million in the United Kingdom for manufacturing and electronics production upgrades, and €3 million in Romania for metal-cutting equipment and tooling.
GE Aerospace is also allocating approximately €40 million to expand maintenance, repair and overhaul and component repair operations across Europe as part of a previously announced global $1 billion MRO investment program.
The company said the investments are designed to improve throughput, enhance process capability and expand the use of advanced manufacturing technologies across its European footprint.
In parallel with facility upgrades, GE Aerospace plans to hire more than 1,000 workers across Europe and expand workforce training initiatives. Programs include vocational training support in the United Kingdom and Italy and expansion of its Next Engineers program in Poland, aimed at building a pipeline of skilled manufacturing and engineering talent.
GE Aerospace said Europe represents its largest global footprint outside the United States, with operations in 18 countries supporting assembly, additive manufacturing, engineering and MRO activities.
