Stellantis, Microsoft Expand AI Collaboration Across Engineering and Manufacturing Operations

AMSTERDAM—Stellantis and Microsoft have announced a five-year strategic collaboration to expand the use of artificial intelligence across engineering, manufacturing and enterprise operations, as automakers accelerate digital transformation efforts.

The partnership will focus on co-developing more than 100 AI initiatives spanning product development, operations and customer systems, aimed at improving efficiency, speeding innovation and enhancing connected vehicle capabilities.

“Through our collaboration with Microsoft, we are accelerating our AI momentum across the enterprise, giving our teams the tools to innovate faster and deliver the products, services and experiences customers expect from us,” said Ned Curic, chief engineering and technology officer at Stellantis.

In manufacturing, the collaboration includes AI-driven predictive maintenance, testing and validation processes designed to improve uptime and production performance. The companies are also working to accelerate deployment of new digital features and engineering capabilities across global operations.

Stellantis will also implement an AI-powered global cyberdefense center to monitor and protect systems across its operations, including manufacturing sites and connected vehicle platforms. The system is designed to detect and respond to threats more quickly while improving resilience across the company’s digital infrastructure.

The agreement includes a broader push toward cloud-based infrastructure, with Stellantis targeting a 60 percent reduction in its datacenter footprint by 2029. The move is intended to support a more scalable and interconnected digital ecosystem across engineering and production environments.

As part of the initiative, Stellantis is also expanding access to AI tools across its workforce, including deployment of Microsoft Copilot technologies to support productivity and collaboration.

The collaboration reflects a broader shift in the automotive industry, where manufacturers are embedding AI into both product development and production systems to improve performance, reduce downtime and support more flexible manufacturing operations.
