Toyota Has Big Plans in Texas

SAN ANTONIO—Toyota Motor Corp. is planning to expand its operations here. According to Reuters, the automaker will invest $2 billion to open a new assembly line at its 20-year-old facility as part of “Project Orca.”
Construction is expected to begin later this year, with the plant opening by the end of this decade. Toyota plans to invest more than $1 billion in buildings and infrastructure, and $950 million in production machinery and equipment.
Toyota’s 2.2-million-square-foot plant in the Alamo City assembles full-size vehicle such as the Sequoia sport utility vehicle and Tundra pickup truck.
