Hexagon Spin-Off Reflects Growth of Industrial AI Sector

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Hexagon AB has spun off its industrial intelligence and AI software business into a standalone company, Octave Intelligence plc, signaling the growing importance of connected operational data, digital infrastructure and AI-driven industrial analytics across manufacturing and critical infrastructure operations.

The company develops software platforms designed to connect operational data across manufacturing plants, power grids, transportation systems and other large industrial environments. Its systems combine sensor data, AI-driven analytics and infrastructure monitoring to help organizations improve operational performance, resilience and decision-making.

The spin-off reflects a broader shift occurring across manufacturing and industrial markets as software, industrial AI and connected operational intelligence increasingly become standalone business segments rather than support functions tied directly to industrial hardware providers.

“Organizations responsible for the world’s most critical assets are generating data that creates intelligence everywhere but is connected nowhere,” said Mattias Stenberg, CEO of Octave. “Octave unlocks results by connecting that data and intelligence with context and AI-driven insight across every asset, facility and organization.”

According to the company, Octave’s platforms are designed to connect operational information across the design, build, operate and protect phases of industrial systems and infrastructure.

The company said its software is used across manufacturing, transportation, utilities, public safety and infrastructure environments where operators increasingly rely on connected data systems, automation and AI-driven operational visibility to manage complex industrial operations.

Octave said its technology is currently used by organizations representing more than 60% of the Fortune Global 500.

The company employs approximately 7,200 people across 45 countries.
