Demco Automation Receives Award for Veteran Employment

Demco award
November 24, 2020

QUAKERTOWN, PA—Systems integrator Demco Automation has received a second consecutive Gold Medallion Award from the U.S. Department of Labor for recruiting, hiring and retaining veterans.

The award was presented on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, during a virtual ceremony hosted at the department’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Established by the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act, the award recognizes an organization’s commitment to veteran hiring, retention and professional development. To be eligible for the gold award, an employer must maintain a workforce composed of at least 7 percent veterans and it must retain at least 75 percent of its veteran employees from year to year.

Demco is one of only 27 organizations in Pennsylvania and 675 across the country to earn the award. “We are honored to receive this award from the U.S. Department of Labor for the second consecutive year,” says Stephen Maund, president and CEO of Demco Automation. “Our team includes military veterans from the Army, Navy and Air Force. Their experience has prepared them well as they contribute their technical expertise every day. As we continue to expand our advanced-technology offerings, their mission experiences are a tremendous value to our company, customers and partners alike.”

“Each year roughly 200,000 American men and women transition from military to civilian life. The organizations we recognize today are helping these men and women find careers where they can apply the skill and leadership they gained through their service in the Armed Forces,” adds Secretary of Labor Eugene Scalia. “Because of the special role these companies have played in supporting veterans in the workforce, it’s a privilege to honor them today.”

Based in Quakertown, PA, Demco Automation is a leading supplier of robotics and automated manufacturing systems. The company has grown to service customers throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Known for its experience in developing modular automation systems and robotics for industrial processes, Demco designs and manufactures production systems for the myriad industries, including medical devices, aerospace, defense, electronics, automotive, consumer products, commercial and industrial products, semiconductor, pharmaceutical and biotechnology.
