LEMANS, France—Some of the fastest electric motorcycles on earth will take on the legendary road racing circuit here this weekend during the inaugural round of the 2025 MotoE world championship. A group of 18 riders are expected to navigate through challenging twists and turns at speeds up to 170 mph aboard matching machines made by Ducati, a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group based in Bologna, Italy.
In addition to LeMans, other MotoE races will be held this summer in Austria, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and Spain. According to the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, all the venues were “chosen with a focus on the maximum proportion of renewable energy they can provide from their facilities…contributing to our global goals to cut emissions and drive electric innovation wherever it’s most visible.”
The Ducati V21L features a battery pack “specifically designed to follow the natural flow of the central area of the bike.” Each of the nine teams competing in the MotoE championship will be allowed to adjust the traction control of their motorcycles to improve performance at various racing circuits.
