Canadian Lithium-ion Battery Producer UgoWork Opens U.S. Battery Assembly Plant

CHICAGO—Canadian lithium-ion battery producer UgoWork has opened a new assembly plant in the Chicago area, marking a major step in its U.S. expansion strategy. The facility will assemble batteries for Class I, II, and III lift trucks using both domestic and foreign components, enabling the company to boost production flexibility, reduce lead times, lower shipping costs, and enhance local service for U.S. customers.
UgoWork leaders said the move which was a long part of the company’s growth strategy, was accelerated by evolving trade regulations and tariffs.
“Scaling up our assembly operations to the U.S. was the next logical step for UgoWork,” said Philippe Beauchamp, company president. “This expansion increases our production capacity, strengthens compliance with U.S. manufacturing guidelines, and keeps us closer to our customers as we continue to deliver the quality and innovation they expect.”
