Hyundai Opens Georgia's First Dedicated EV Workforce Training Facility

Ellabell, GA—Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) celebrated the opening of its Hyundai Mobility Training Center of Georgia, an 89,000-square-foot, tech-forward workforce hub purpose-built to train talent for the state’s rapidly expanding electric and hybrid vehicle manufacturing sector.
Located adjacent to HMGMA in Bryan County, the center is engineered to mirror the production systems inside Hyundai’s assembly plant. As HMGMA moves forward with expanded EV and hybrid production, the new center will equip workers with the specialized skills required for next-generation automotive manufacturing.
The center can train up to 824 individuals at a time and will play a critical role in supporting the approximately 8,500 jobs Hyundai expects to create in Georgia by 2031.
Designed in collaboration with HMGMA engineers and Quick Start training experts, the center replicates real production environments with a suite of systems, including:
- STEP Line (Safe Transition for Efficient Production): A digital, simulation-rich introductory line that builds foundational timing, coordination, and ergonomics skills.
- IMPACT Line (Immersive Manufacturing Process and Conveyor Training): A full-length moving assembly line featuring 53 integrated operations and an embedded quality system — a one-to-one representation of EV assembly workflows.
- High-Voltage Battery & Safety Lab: A specialized environment for hands-on training with EV and hybrid high-voltage components and safety protocols.
- VR Experience Lab: A fully immersive virtual reality space for hazard recognition, safety drills, and process familiarization.
- Automation & Mechatronics Lab: A modular automation training area focused on PLCs, robotics integration, motion systems, and industrial sensors.
Additional technical spaces include a robotics lab, welding and paint labs, six configurable classrooms, a 5,764-square-foot multipurpose training hall, and even a robotic dog for advanced automation simulations.
Quick Start leadership emphasized that every lab and training asset was designed to precisely match the production demands trainees will encounter on the Metaplant floor, ensuring a seamless transition from the classroom to high-volume EV assembly.
