Honda's Investment Will Allow Plant to Build Small Assembly Items On-Site

SWEPSONVILLE, NC—Honda is investing $9.6 million to modernize its North Carolina Manufacturing (NCM) facility in Swepsonville, to increase its in-house production capabilities for critical all-terrain vehicle (ATV) components. The upgrade will allow the plant to build key parts such as rear and front fenders, side covers, toolbox covers, and various small assembly items directly on site. The investment will also create 18 new jobs and support upskilling opportunities for associates over the next five years.
The modernization plan includes new equipment to boost production flexibility, maximize space, and lower operating costs. In line with Honda’s global sustainability goals, NCM will introduce a resource circularity initiative using a new plastic pelletizer to recycle scrap material and reduce waste. Additional equipment upgrades will shift more operations to electric-powered systems to reduce the facility’s carbon footprint.
Today, the 650,000-square-foot plant employs 600 associates and continues to produce power equipment alongside its growing lineup of powersports products.
