The equipment needed to cut, strip, crimp and assemble wiring is always changing. Here’s a look at some of the latest products.

 

System Automatically Adjusts Stripping Blades

Adaptive Incision Control technology is used in fully automatic crimp-to-crimp machines from Komax and semiautomatic stripping machines from Schleuniger. It continuously compares the defined maximum incision notch depth with the actual cut on the wire, automatically adjusts the incision diameter, and compensates for wire tolerances. Wire ends exceeding the permissible notch depth are detected and sorted out. This ensures quality and reduces scrap.

The standard operating range covers cross sections from 0.13 to 6 square millimeters. Full or partial stripping of any wire length is possible.

MPT-250C-SC motorized tensile tester

Motorized Tensile Tester

The MPT-250C-SC is used for tensile testing 0.022-, 0.032-, and 0.04-inch Safe-T-Cable. It comprises the MPT-250C and 15-3318 pull wheel grip set. The motorized unit can produce 2.5 to 250 pounds of force and can perform pull-to-fail and force-hold tests. It features a full-color LCD touch-screen interface and data capture capability for exporting test data to a PC via USB or RS-232. Force measurements are accurate to ±0.5 percent of fullt scale. Force measurement resolution is 0.1 pound. The device meets UL, ISO, SAE, MIL and ASTM requirements.

EVO 7i and 9i handheld cable tie application tools

Tool Installs Cable Ties

HellermannTyton has released updated versions of its handheld cable tie application tools, the EVO 7 and 9. The new models, called the EVO 7i and 9i, have been enhanced both visually and functionally. The new tools have been tested to 1 million cycles. Each tool is housed in a lightweight composite body that resists drops.

The EVO 7i tensions and cuts cable ties ranging from 18 to 80 pounds. The heavier duty EVO 9i processes 50- to 255-pound ties, including wide strap ties. Both tools come in standard or short hand span models to accommodate all users. An additional model, the EVO 9HT, delivers even higher tensions for applications such as heavy equipment manufacturing.

A key feature of the EVO line is their Tension-Lock-Cut (TLC) technology, which freezes the tensioner before the cut is made, eliminating kick-back. That and an improved, ergonomic handle design help reduce repetitive strain injuries.

THM MultiMark Plus R printer

Thermal Transfer Printer

The THM MultiMark Plus R printer, along with the new MultiMark R-Fix applicator, automates the process of printing and applying wrap-around labels on cables. Labels are automatically printed, applied and wrapped around the cable in just three seconds per label. That’s 60 percent faster than applying labels manually. Quality application ensures minimal waste and maximizes the durability of each label.

Labels are available in various sizes and reliably cover cables ranging in size from 2 to 14 millimeters in diameter. A high-quality lamination protects the label against environmental damage and ensures permanently legible markings.

Xuron LX-Micro-Shear flush cutter

Low-Profile Cutter

The Xuron LX-Micro-Shear flush cutter features a low profile cutter head with a sharp tapered tip for reaching into tight spaces, making it ideally suited for working on small electronic devices. Employing bypass cutting to produce a clean, square cut on soft wire up to 16 AWG, this cutter requires much less squeezing than compression-type cutters.

Comfortable to grip and easy to maneuver, the cutter has cushioned rubber hand grips, an internal Light Touch return spring, and precision ground high carbon steel blades. Capable of performing millions of cuts, this tool is just 4.86 inches long and 1.7 inches wide between the grips.
