GRECIA, Costa Rica— Trelleborg Medical Solutions has opened a 107,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Costa Rica’s Evolution Free Zone Industrial Park, expanding its global production footprint and adding centralized manufacturing capabilities for medical devices.

The site is the company’s first manufacturing operation in Central America and is designed to support nearshoring strategies and supply chain continuity for medical device manufacturers.

The facility consolidates multiple manufacturing steps under one roof, allowing components to be produced and assembled at a single location.

According to Trelleborg Medical Solutions President Linda Muroski, “By producing the components at a single site and moving them to assembly under one roof, we reduce freight costs and management of multiple vendors for our customers, saving them money so they can be more competitive and profitable. We are creating reliable solutions that empower our customers to deliver life-saving medical devices to patients all over the world.”

Manufacturing capabilities at the Grecia, Alajuela Province site include liquid silicone rubber molding, dipping, thermoplastic production and assembly. The facility also features cleanroom manufacturing environments and is designed to meet stringent medical device industry standards, supporting customers in critical healthcare and medical applications.

The site was designed with long-term operational efficiency and sustainability in mind, incorporating solar-ready roofing, energy-efficient building systems and water-conserving landscaping. Trelleborg is pursuing Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design certification for the facility as part of its broader commitment to responsible manufacturing and its goal of achieving net zero emissions by the end of 2035.
