WESTBROOK, ME—Systems integrator Lanco has been awarded a contract to design and build an automated, pallet-based test system for high-volume production of a medical device.

The system will automate a sequence of mechanical and electrical verification steps commonly required for complex handheld medical devices. Parts will move through multiple test stations using Lanco’s pallet-based transport system. The machine will locate each unit, verify status for traceability, execute repeatable test routines, and capture measurement data that can be associated with each unit to support digital recordkeeping and production analytics.

“This program reflects our commitment to helping medical device manufacturers scale with confidence,” said Barry Rahimian, global vice president of sales at Lanco. “By combining robust fixturing, validated test methods, and reliable data capture in a safe, production-ready platform, we are delivering a system that supports both quality requirements and operational efficiency.”

Engineered for production reliability, the automated system will emphasize consistent part location, closed-loop measurement capture, and safe operator interaction. It will segregate nonconforming parts at the station level. It will then guide operators to remove the faulty part to prevent further downstream processing.

Lanco will supply complete documentation for good automated manufacturing practice (GAMP) and validation processes.

The medical device manufacturer expects the automated system to improve repeatability, reduce manual handling, and provide faster feedback for process control.
