FANUC Invests $90 Million to Expand U.S. Robot Manufacturing Capacity

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — FANUC America is investing $90 million to expand its U.S. manufacturing footprint, with plans to build a new 840,000-square-foot facility in Michigan to support future robot production.
The site, targeted for completion in late 2027, will provide production-ready space designed to support potential expansion of the company’s existing U.S.-based robot manufacturing operations. The project is expected to create 225 jobs and increase FANUC America’s engineering and advanced manufacturing capacity.
The expansion comes as demand grows for automation technologies across North America, including applications tied to physical AI, digital twin and virtual commissioning.
“This investment builds on FANUC America’s Michigan manufacturing footprint,” said Mike Cicco, president and CEO of FANUC America. “By expanding its U.S. presence, FANUC America will strengthen domestic manufacturing, improve responsiveness to customer needs and support industries that rely on automation to stay competitive.”
The new facility will add flexible capacity to support future production needs, allowing the company to scale operations in response to increasing demand for robotics and automation systems.
Since 2019, FANUC America has invested nearly $300 million in U.S. facilities, expanding its footprint to approximately 3 million square feet and adding more than 700 jobs.
In addition to expanding manufacturing capacity, the company is also investing in workforce development. FANUC America plans to open an expanded FANUC Academy in Auburn Hills, Michigan, later this year. The facility is expected to become the largest robotics and automation training center in the United States, supporting skills development in response to growing demand for automation talent.
