SMYRNA, TN—Workers from Nissan’s assembly plant here met on Tuesday with United Auto Workers union representatives to discuss another organizing effort at the Japanese automaker’s first U.S. factory.
DETROIT—Actor Danny Glover has joined supporters of unionization for workers at Nissan’s assembly plant in Mississippi demonstrating outside the North American International Auto Show.
CANTON, MS—Nissan will begin producing the Murano at its assembly plant here by 2014. The automaker has set a goal of manufacturing 85 percent of the vehicles it sells in the United States in North America.
TOKYO—Looking to limit its exposure to the profit-shrinking effects of the yen and support its quest for significant sales growth, Nissan is strongly considering adding a new assembly plant in North America by 2017.
TOKYO—Nissan has abandoned plans to have Canadian auto parts company Magna International assemble the new compact model for its Infiniti luxury brand in Austria. Nissan now plans to build the future compact Infiniti vehicle in-house.
