BOWLING GREEN, KY—General Motors Corp. will invest $290 million in its Corvette assembly plant here to fund a series of upgrades at the facility.

The United Auto Workers said Wednesday an unfair labor practice strike will be held beginning Monday against Sakthi Automotive Group USA, an India-based automotive supplier of safety components that recently expanded in Detroit.

TORONTO—As it expands research into self-driving cars and other technology, General Motors plans to hire approximately 700 engineers in Canada.

FREMONT, CA—The UAW wants to unionize the Tesla Motors assembly plant here. Tesla’s factory is the only U.S. assembly plant owned by an American car company that does not have union representation.
