Schneider Electric, Hitachi Vantara US Plants Earn World Economic Forum Lighthouse Honors

BOSTON — Two U.S. manufacturing plants were among the 16 facilities recognized in the latest World Economic Forum Global Lighthouse Network cohort, with Schneider Electric's engineer-to-order factory in El Paso, TX, and Hitachi Vantara Manufacturing's storage systems plant in Norman, OK, earning honors for using artificial intelligence and digital technologies to improve factory performance.
The Global Lighthouse Network recognizes manufacturing operations that demonstrate measurable gains in areas such as productivity, supply chain resilience, customer centricity, sustainability and workforce development through the use of advanced technologies. Schneider Electric now has 11 Global Lighthouse facilities.
The El Paso plant became Schneider Electric's first Engineer-to-Order Lighthouse facility and received distinction in the network's Customer Centricity category.
Schneider Electric Chief Supply Chain Officer Mourad Tamoud said the recognition reflects the company's broader strategy of combining digital technologies with sustainability.
"This recognition from the World Economic Forum reflects our continued commitment to transform our supply chain through the combined power of people, digital, and sustainability," Tamoud said.
The El Paso campus manufactures customized low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution equipment for industrial, commercial and residential applications. According to Schneider Electric, rapid growth in data center demand increased complexity across the site's engineer-to-order production system. To address those challenges, the company digitized engineering, manufacturing and supply chain workflows using industrial Internet of Things technologies, advanced analytics and AI-driven tools.
The transformation increased on-time delivery from 61% to 97%, reduced lead times by as much as 35% and eliminated $43 million in backorders while improving coordination between engineering, production and logistics operations, Schneider Electric said.

The World Economic Forum cited those results in awarding the site its Customer Centricity distinction, noting the plant leveraged "data engineering, integrated logistics, industrial IoT and advanced AI solutions" to improve responsiveness while handling increasing product customization.
Another U.S. honoree was Hitachi Vantara Manufacturing's facility in Norman, OK, which received a Productivity distinction after using a global digital platform and AI-enabled configuration automation to improve inventory visibility and decision-making. According to the World Economic Forum, the transformation cut inventory by 50%, reduced order-to-ship lead times by 77% and improved delivery performance for highly customized storage systems.
