DEBRECEN, Hungary—When BMW's new assembly plant here ramps up production later this year, it will feature a cutting-edge quality management system. The state-of-the-art factory will be producing the automaker’s Neue Klasse EVs, such as the iX3 sport utility vehicle.
G&P will provide a variety of services to the facility in 12 production quality zones. Its inspection services will control parts quality and minimize disruption during the manufacturing process. As part of a sustained focus on supplier quality, these inspection services will be deployed upstream by providing onsite support at supplier plants. The goal is to filter out nonconforming components before they reach the assembly line and help address issues quickly.
As well as managing incoming product inspection, G&P will supply resident engineers at the plant, with responsibility for actively investigating supplier point of fit issues. They will play a key role in working with BMW and its supplier network to minimize risk, maximize performance and achieve operational excellence.
“With any new model, range or technology, quality issues can be expected.,” says Marco den Dekker, managing director of central and eastern Europe at G&P. “Having experienced, local, on-site support will ensure that any issues are addressed quickly and effectively before vehicles roll-off production.”
