EV Maker to Build Assembly Plant in New Mexico

SANTA TERESA, NM—GreenPower Motor Co., a Canadian manufacturer of electric buses and vans, will build a new assembly plant here.
The company will receive some $15 million in incentives and tax credits from New Mexico and will provide dealer-level vehicle pricing to the state, according to the New Mexico Economic Development Department.
Based in Vancouver, Canada, GreenPower already operates assembly plants in in Porterville, CA, and South Charleston, WV. The new 135,000 square foot facility in Santa Teresa will become the company’s base for North American operations and its U.S. corporate headquarters. The move is estimated to generate more than $200 million in economic impact for New Mexico over the next decade, creating more than 340 jobs.
