MIDDLETON, MA—Bostik is investing $27 million in its factory here to increase capacity and improve the reliability of its production process for high molecular weight polyester.
As the largest Bostik plant in the United States, Middleton prioritizes worker safety and produces a diverse range of resins and adhesives, including high molecular weight polyesters, a key ingredient in hot-melt adhesives.
The investment will enable the company to produce the polyesters in a variety of form factors, such as pellets, powders, webs and films. Optimizations include adding a reactor to double the capacity across trains and replacing existing reactors to increase reliability, business continuity and product output speeds.
Bostik’s polyesters can be recyclable or compostable and can address changing regulations, such as food contact compliance and being BPA- and halogen-free. They also facilitate the use of other lightweight materials in applications to reduce environmental impact.
Bostik is one of more than 200 suppliers that will be exhibiting at The ASSEMBLY Show Oct. 21-23 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.Looking for quick answers on assembly and manufacturing topics? Try Ask ASM, our new smart AI search tool. Ask ASM
